Dave Raue

Dave is the Rock Club's General Manager. After a long career in the international chemical business, he decided to "pack it in and do something more fun before it's too late." After partnering with The New Rochelle Racquet Club, TRC is the result.

Dave's family pulled him into climbing in 1996. "I've always been pretty much of a jock," he says, "but climbing just blew me away. It's the most addictive thing I've ever done." If TRC visitors are lucky they may see Dave pulling hard in his 80's spandex.

Newcomers to TRC are sometimes surprised to learn that Dave doesn't actually climb outside much. "I'm really a gym rat. I came to all this later in life than most, so I was already doing other outside sports." Those include skiing, cycling and kitesurfing.

Favorite sports venues: Verbier (off-piste!), Outer Banks, Vail back bowls

Obe Carrion

Obe is Operations Director and Head Route-setter at The Rock Club. He also co-coaches Team Rock, TRC’s competitive climbing team.

Obe discovered rock climbing at age 14 and quickly became addicted. Feeding the habit quickly lead to climbing career that few can dream of, much less match. Just 6 years later Obe went pro, climbing with the best in the US, England, Switzerland, Australia, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Japan, and New Zealand. Obe was a member of the US National Team in 2001 and 2002, and pulled a win at the ABS Nationals in 2001. Obe has been sponsored by many of the most established rock climbing companies including Madrock, prAna, 5.10, Scarpa, Pusher, Cordless, S7 Clothing, Boreal, and Fila.

Says Joe Iurato of Urban Climber Magazine, “[Obe] helped pioneer the whole bouldering movement by developing some of the most classic areas in the country... [Obe has] ultimately earned himself a place among the most elite climbers in history.

If you think you recognize Obe, you definitely do, he has starred in 8 classic climbing movies including Rampage, Frequent Flyers, and Dosage I & II. He has also been featured in nearly every climbing magazine in the world including Rock and Ice Magazine, Climbing Magazine, L’uomo Vogue Magazine (Italy), and Rock & Wall Magazine (France).

When Obe isn't setting, coaching or climbing, he's probably playing golf. "It's the only sport harder than climbing!" he says.
