Climbing 101, Getting Started
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS?
Our Climbing 101 program is designed for adults with no previous climbing experience. Everyone gets plenty of time for climbing and enough belay practice to make sure that your new skills will stay with you. Our instructors will get you climbing safely, prepare you for top rope belay certification and introduce basic moves and techniques. Climbing 101 establishes a solid foundation for your climbing progress.
CLIMBING 101 INCLUDES:
- 2 hours of instruction
- Topics include equipment use, safety, communication, knots and tying in, belay technique, basic climbing skills and injury prevention.
- Full equipment rental
- Free climbing on the day you take the class
- An additional day pass and equipment rental for another visit
NUTS & BOLTS
Climbing 101 is generally limited to 6 participants per class to ensure that you get plenty of individual attention. A provisional belay test is given after the first session. The final belay test is given after the next visit. After that you're good to climb any time you want!
Price: $60 per person.
Times: See our calender page for an up-to-date schedule. Classes start promptly at the scheduled time. Please be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance to get registered and set up with your gear.
Reservations: Advance reservations are required. Please call in advance so we can hold your spot. Walk-ins can only be accepted if there's room and if there are already 2 other registered participants. Want to come with your own group? Just put together 3 or 4 friends. You'll all get a 15% discount and we'll work the session around your schedule.
Cancellations
Unfortunately repeated no-shows have forced us to enforce a 48 hour cancellation policy. When you reserve your spot we
take a credit card number. Cancellations less than 48 hours and no-shows will be charged the full price of the course. This charge is not creditable against another class.
Clothing & gear: We provide everything - harness, shoes, chalk bag and hardware. Clothing should allow freedom of movement. Very baggy clothes and short shorts may make the harness uncomfortable. Yoga clothing works great. So does most anything containing Spandex.
